This supercell spawned \nalong the Howard\/Montgomery County line as a result of a remnant \nmesoscale convective vortex moving through the region which had \nmoved through the Ohio Valley earlier in the day. It evolved into \na cluster of cells initially before splitting off into an \nindividual supercell that would develop rotation as it moved out \nof southeastern Montgomery County into northwestern Prince Georges\nCounty. \n\nThe tornado caused extensive tree damage in the Somerset\nsubdivision just north of Bowie, MD. There was also once incidence\nwhere a tree had fallen on top of residence on Stafford Ln. The \nmost concentrated areas of damage occurred between Stafford Ln. \nand Saber Ln. However, there were several other trees down in the \narea outside of the more concentrated tornadic damage,\nparticularly along Buckingham Drive perpendicular to White Marsh\nBranch. At this location along Buckingham Drive, trees fell upon \npower lines, snapping several supporting utility poles.\n\nThe tornado initially touched down around Tarragon Ln. and tracked\neastward over the Bowie High School Annex before tracking into the\nSomerset subdivision, where the majority of the damage was\nobserved. The tornado would then lift just before reaching\nsouthern portions of Whitemarsh Park. \n\nKLWX WSR-88D Doppler Radar in Sterling VA depicted a tight \nvelocity couplet that corresponded to the location of the damage \ndescribed above.
