WASHINGTON – Security officials removed Texas Democratic Representative Al Green from the House chamber on Tuesday evening as President Trump prepared to deliver his State of the Union address, following Green’s decision to display a protest sign.<\/p>

When the President made his entrance into the chamber, Green raised a white placard bearing the message “Black people aren’t apes.” The demonstration referenced a controversial social media post that appeared on Trump’s account earlier this month, which contained footage showing former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama depicted as apes. The administration later removed the post, with Trump attributing its publication to a staff member.<\/p>
