Texas Rangers utility infielder Cody Freeman faces an extended absence after suffering a fractured lower back, with team manager Skip Schumaker revealing Saturday that the injury will keep him out of action for four to six weeks.<\/p>

The recovery period creates significant uncertainty about Freeman’s availability for the season opener, as only five weeks remain before Texas takes on the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park on March 26.<\/p>

The 25-year-old Freeman had been competing for a versatile bench role heading into the 2025 campaign.<\/p>

“Obviously, he wasn’t thrilled with the news,” Schumaker told reporters, according to the Dallas Morning News. “He’s going to be out a little bit. But he’s the type of kid that he will get something out of this rehab. I know it’s tough for him, but it’s not like he’s not part of the plan moving forward. He’s going to help us at some point during the season.”<\/p>
