Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-car crash that occurred Saturday afternoon in Dover.<\/p>\n
On September 20, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on Dyke Branch Road, approaching a moderate curve west of Wheel of Fortune Road. At the same time, a Volvo S40 was traveling westbound on Dyke Branch Road, approaching the same curve.<\/p>\n
For reasons still under investigation, the Honda failed to remain in its lane and crossed into the westbound lane. The driver of the Volvo attempted to avoid the collision by swerving left into the eastbound lane. At that time, the driver of the Honda re-entered the eastbound lane, resulting in a head-on crash between the two vehicles.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Honda, a 70-year-old man from Dover, was not wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Volvo, a 16-year-old male from Dover, was wearing a seatbelt and was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries. His passenger, a 45-year-old woman from Dover, was also wearing a seatbelt and was transported to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
The road was\u00a0closed<\/a>\u00a0for approximately 3 and a half hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the roadway.<\/p>\n The investigation is ongoing. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact Sergeant J. Wilson at (302) 698-8518.
