Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday evening in Dover.<\/p>\n
On July 3, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., a Honda Accord was stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Birchfield Drive and Forrest Avenue. At the same time, a Hyundai Veloster was traveling westbound on Forrest Avenue, approaching Birchfield Drive. The Honda failed to remain stopped and entered the roadway, causing the left front of the Hyundai to crash into the right front of the Honda on Forrest Avenue.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Honda, a 76-year-old woman from Dover, Delaware, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name is being withheld until her family has been notified. The driver of the Hyundai, a 17-year-old male from Marydel, Maryland, was also taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
The roadway was partially\u00a0closed<\/a>\u00a0for approximately three and a half hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.<\/p>\n The investigation remains ongoing.
