A 2-year-old has died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in Milford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 8 p.m. when a 1998 Toyota Corolla, operated by a 72-year-old Milford man, was traveling westbound on Slaughter Beach Road, negotiating a slight right curve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 2-year-old boy from Dover was visiting family at a home on Slaughter Beach Road when for unknown reasons, the child, who was wearing dark colored clothing at the time of the incident, was standing in the westbound lane of the highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A passing motorist stopped in the eastbound lane to try and make contact with the child, and that’s when the driver of the Toyota was unable to see the child in the roadway, which resulted in the left-front of the vehicle striking him within the westbound travel lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver came to a controlled stop just west of the collision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2-year-old was transported to Nemours Children\u2019s Hospital. While en-route the little boy passed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver was not injured in the crash which remains under investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
