Delaware State Police are looking into a deadly single-vehicle crash that took place Sunday afternoon in Dover.<\/p>

At around 3:10 p.m. on July 26, 2026, a Lexus GX merged onto northbound Bay Road from exit 93 in Dover. According to the preliminary investigation, the vehicle was moving at what appeared to be a high rate of speed and was switching lanes in a reckless manner. The Lexus eventually drifted off the western edge of the roadway, collided with a Jersey barrier along the center median, and flipped onto its side.<\/p>

The driver, a 27-year-old Dover man who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his identity until his next of kin can be reached.<\/p>

Bay Road remained closed for roughly four hours as troopers investigated and cleared the scene.<\/p>

The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is asked to reach out to Master Corporal W. Booth at (302) 698-8451. A 27-year-old Dover man lost his life Sunday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash on Bay Road northbound in Dover. Delaware State Police say the driver was speeding and changing lanes recklessly when the vehicle struck a median barrier and rolled over.
