*Update – Second Suspect Arrested* State Police Investigating Homicide in Seaford

Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives have arrested 22-year-old Jamal Riddick of Blades, Delaware as the second suspect in the homicide that occurred in Seaford last month, and 20-year-old Dimere Riddick also of Blades, Delaware, for felony gun charges

On March 12, 2025, at approximately 4:24 p.m., officers from the Seaford Police Department and Delaware State Police responded to a report of a shooting at Nutter Park, located at 712 Collins Avenue within the city limits of Seaford. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered 23-year-old Schweitzer Dessin, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and began life saving efforts. Dessin was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries. Two other men, ages, 19 and 21, self-transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. A 23-year-old man also self-transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries related to the shooting. Due to the nature of the incident, the Seaford Police Department requested the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit to assume the investigation.

Through investigative means, Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives identified Johnathan Dugazon as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On March 24, 2025, officers from the Seaford Police Department arrested Dugazon without incident. In the ensuing investigation, detectives identified Jamal Riddick as the second suspect in the homicide and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On April 15, 2025, Delaware State Police Homicide Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on the 800 block of South Market Street in Blades where detectives took Jamal Riddick into custody without incident. During the search warrant, detectives found an AR style rifle and firearm ammunition in a room occupied by Dimere Riddick, who is a convicted felon, and prohibited from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition. He too was taken into custody without incident.


Jamal Riddick was arrested and taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,340,000 cash bond.

  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony) – 17 counts

Dimere Riddick was arrested and taken to Troop 5, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $80,000 secured bond.
