The Delaware State Police are investigating a pedestrian fatal crash that occurred last night that left one woman dead.
On September 17, 2024, at approximately 8:23 p.m., a maroon Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on Boulden Boulevard, approaching the intersection with Southgate Boulevard. At the same time, a pedestrian was attempting to cross Boulden Boulevard from the north side of the roadway to the south side. The pedestrian entered the Hyundai’s path of travel as she crossed the roadway, and was struck by the Hyundai.
The pedestrian, a 44-year-old woman from Middletown, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name is being withheld until her family and relatives are notified.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 22-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, was not injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to please contact Sergeant J.
