The Delaware State Police arrested 37-year-old Leroy Buchanan of Wilmington, Delaware, for an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred in Claymont on Wednesday morning.
On July 23, 2025, at approximately 5:41 a.m., troopers responded to a report of an attempted robbery that occurred at Dunkin’ Donuts, located at 3224 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had placed her suitcase in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts when a black male suspect approached, and took it. The victim confronted the suspect, and recovered her suitcase then entered the Dunkin’ Donuts. The suspect followed the victim into the business, and began striking her while pulling her out of the business and demanding the suitcase. The suspect ultimately fled on foot in an unknown direction without the victim’s property. The victim was not injured.
Troopers searched the area for the suspect, and located a male matching the suspect’s description as he was walking southbound on Philadelphia Pike. Troopers made contact with the male, identified as Leroy Buchanan, and discovered he was the suspect responsible for the attempted robbery.
Buchanan was taken to Troop 1, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
