State Police Arrest Man for Georgetown Residential Burglary

The Delaware State Police arrested 24-year-old Lester Alcantara of Bridgeville, Delaware, for the burglary of a Georgetown residence that occurred in early March.

On March 1, 2024, at approximately 7:21 p.m., troopers were called to a residence on Widgeon Road, Georgetown, for a report of a burglary. Upon arriving, troopers discovered an unknown subject had entered the residence through the bedroom window. While inside, the suspect knocked over items and stole money before fleeing. Troopers examined and recovered latent fingerprints at the scene. Through additional investigative means, detectives identified Lester Alcantara as the suspect in the burglary and obtained an arrest warrant on March 29, 2024.

On the same day, Alcantara was taken into custody by the Seaford Police Department and turned over to Troop 4. While in custody at Troop 4, Alcantara was found to have approximately thirty one Oxycodone pills hidden inside his belt line. Alcantara was charged with the below crimes, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $5,000 secured bond.

  • Theft Greater than $1500 (Felony)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 1 Quantity (Felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
